I have one in progress to show how I do it. First cut out the frame to fit on the tang of the knife. Then silver braze a strap across the frame on both sides where the front pin will go. The tang should slide sung through frame. This will keep the handle strong and prevent any breakage that may occur during hard use. ![]() Next you would start fitting the handle material to the side of the frame. You will have to under cut the material to fit over the strap that is welded to the side of the frame. ![]() ![]() You can see the two small holes in the frame are for alignment, if you are going to have to take it off and put file work on the frame. ![]() Now you can see where the material is under cut to accept the strap welded on each side of the frame. Now I have the file work finished and it is ready to start putting together. ![]() As you can see, I marked where the bolts will go into the tang with the drill before I filled the cavity with epoxy. After the handle is filled with epoxy it is ready to drill the holes in the tang/ ![]() I use this fixture to hold the knife to help keep it square and straight . ![]() After the hole is drilled then I use the counter bore to reset the bolt head . ![]() Now the bolts are holding everything together. You can use some lock tight on the treads to keep them from backing out and getting loose. ![]() Now the heads are cut off and it is ready to start smoothing out. ![]() |
